about monica

I was born and raised in the Crowsnest Pass, surrounded by the Rocky Mountains and winds that blew at 100 km/h most of the time. From a young age, I recognized it as a privilege to live within such a wild environment.

I first began practicing social work in 1996, and completed a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology in 2008.I worked many years in mainstream health settings but have moved into other realms of healing as a private therapist, and now my practice is an integration of modern psychology, experiential methods, and metaphysical insights. I believe that healing involves attending to movements of the soul, which can be very private and individual, or part of our connection to our ancestors, our families and communities, and even the more-than-human world.

I may use the body and body awareness to track a person’s deep psychic experience and discover new pathways, and occasionally I integrate some cross cultural shamanic healing principles into my work. In my own life, I have experienced how the natural world has held and sustained me, and sometime use nature-guided practices to facilitate healing and new awareness for others.
