fees & info
Fees
To keep counselling more accessible, fees are set at at rates below those specified by the College of Alberta Psychologists.
Furthermore, I do not want finances to be an obstacle for getting the help you need, so I offer a sliding scale for those whose financial situation warrants it. Please feel free to inquire about this if you feel it may apply to you.
- Individual Therapy – $150 per session (one hour in length, may be slightly longer)
- Couples Therapy – $160 per session (one hour in length, may be slightly longer)
- EMDR – $150-$180 per session depending on length.
Payment is by cash or cheque only.
Please also note that most health insurance plans provide some coverage of counselling fees, so you may be able to pursue some reimbursement of the fees you pay upfront. I provide receipts for this purpose.
Intake
Required forms are available for you to review, download, and complete ahead of time if you so choose. Please go to the forms page.
Your Initial Session
During your initial session, you will be asked to complete an intake form that provides me with valuable information (in the event that you have not brought a completed copy with you). Guidelines around the confidentiality of counselling services will also be reviewed with you in detail at that time, and you will be asked to give your written consent for treatment.
Frequency and Duration
Frequency of counselling sessions is negotiable and best assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Counselling sessions are a minimum one hour in length.
The duration of counselling will depend on numerous factors. While many people experience some immediate relief from their distress once they start attending, it usually requires at least a few months of regular attendance for any significant change to occur.
Please note that evening appointments are available.
